ELECTRICAL ENGINEER II - Power & Controls

PURPOSE
The Electrical Engineer II is responsible to execute tasks and assignments in the area of power and controls equipment delivering solutions and adding value, as well as communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support installation of new plant equipment from conception to operation. Assure integration of new systems into plant operations.
Work closely with Process Engineers to analyze, improve and document all aspects of operations.
Work closely with Reliability Engineers and production personnel ensure high availability and reliability of electrical equipment.
Provide technical expertise to the electrical department on the fields power and controls installation, operation and maintenance.
Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) activities to improve equipment availability. Activities include creation, implementation and improvement of preventative maintenance routines (PMRs) of electrical equipment, facilitating Root Cause Analysis (RCA), justification of spare using Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), maintain accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage condition-base monitoring (CBM) program for electrical equipment.
Conduct economic and operational feasibility studies on proposed electrical modifications and additions.
Interface with contractors utilized in project work, including solicitation of quotes, selection and field direction.
Prepare cost estimates and justifications for the capital plan.
Prepare engineering scope of work for plant electrical projects.
Use SAP to purchase parts and services, review work orders, analyse reports and PM development.
Maintain a standard set of specifications for consistent application related to modifications or additions.
Maintain, organize, prepare, review and revise Electrical drawings, equipment specifications and standards and standard operating procedure (SOP) as required.
Complete objectives according to schedule and in accordance with budget.
Participate or spearhead electrical troubleshooting activities
Other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS
Work closely with production, quarry, dispatch, maintenance, process and quality teams to provide leadership, guidance, and direction for plant operations to ensure alignment with plant and company goals.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required Education: Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree
Field of Study Preferred: Electrical Engineering
Required Work Experience: 5-7 Years of management experience in the cement or similar industrial facility
Travel Requirements: some travel required
Required Computer and Software Skills: SAP, Autocad, Project, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
Additional Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of high and low voltage power distribution systems, weighing and batching systems, PLC control and machinery interlocking systems, variable speed drives and motor control systems
Working knowledge of PLC programming and process control systems is preferred (ControLogix).
Experience with Rockwell software - preferred
Experience in instrumentation, motors, starters, VFD’s, communication networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc).
Experience in working with voltage up to 14kV
Extensive knowledge of medium and low voltage power distribution systems including transformers, switchgears and protection relays, weighing and batching systems, PLC control and machinery interlocking systems, variable speed drives and motor control systems
Good knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA
Used to developing and working within revenue and capital budgets
Able to make decisions on electrical safety matters
