DescriptionArcosa Marine is searching for Entry Fitter/Tack Welder in our Caruthersville, MO barge manufacturing plant.Arcosa Marine is a leading U.S. manufacturer of barges that transport dry and liquid cargoes on inland waterways. Arcosa Marine manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum and other refined products, chemicals, fertilizer, ethanol, and other liquid cargoes. Arcosa Marine also manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges that transport a variety of products, such as grain, coal, and aggregates.Our assemblers get to see what they've built on waterways across the country. As a Entry Fitter/Tack Welder at Arcosa Marine , you'll work with a great group of people who really care about the job you do. You'll follow specific instructions to perform a variety of routine manual labor tasks or assist skilled workers in simple production, process, or maintenance tasks.What you'll do:Provide skilled assistance in assigned areaTack welding (FCAW)Measure to specificationsRead blueprints or other specificationsTrain for additional fitter / fabrication skillsAssist skilled workers involved in fabricating, welding, assembling, installing, and processing by a variety of functions, such as: sorting and counting, feeding, and unloading parts, sweeping, cleaning, rough painting, and other manual labor tasks as neededMay perform general, manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materialsPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsWhat you'll need:Minimum of 6 month of relevant experience.Experience in construction, industrial, or manufacturing environment preferredRequires the ability to work with a tape measure and determine center pointAble to perform basic mathAbility to layout/align metal materialsDesire and willingness to learn to become a FitterDesire to learn how to read and interpret blueprintsAble to pass a tack welding assessmentAble to work effectively in a hot or cold environment while wearing the required PPEMay require working above ground (15 ft or more)Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heightsMay require working in narrow or confined work spaces for extended periods of timeMay require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of timeEqual Opportunity Employerminorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
