3M is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor for the 3M plant located in Columbia, MO. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of 2nd Shift Production Supervisor will provide on shift supervisory support for manufacturing operations and is responsible for driving improvements in safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and employee engagement.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and maintain a safe work environment for self and employees

  • Direct and organize duties and responsibilities of team leaders, direct employees and contingent labor

  • Communicate effectively with team members for needs and feedback.

  • Audit manufacturing cells within department to ensure lean manufacturing practices are being performed in the department.

  • Evaluate workcenters continually to meet performance metrics: Safety, Quality, Customer Service, and Productivity

  • Enforce company policy and procedures.

  • Interface with QA, Supply Chain, Process Engineering, and Plant Engineering to assure adequate support for production.

  • Train and develop employees by facilitating employee training

  • Analyze production schedule and determine what is necessary to complete the work on time (staffing, equipment, support personnel, etc.); maintain visual reporting systems within work cells and operation areas

  • Evaluate employees and provide counsel for performance

  • Manage time and attendance in the company tracking system for direct employees.

  • Maintain department spending within budget (labor, overtime, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing or production experience in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Minimum of one (1) year of combined experience in a leadership, supervisory, Team Leader, Group Leader, and/or people management role in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to solve employee peer disputes and conflict

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Training and/or experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing

  • Skill in motivating employees under a wide variety of circumstances
