The person hired for the position of Machinist /ToolMaker position will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Perform job duties safely and conform to Company Health & Safety program
Support all Columbia Tool & Die customers (May include progressive stamping dies and operation, molds, or precision fabrication). Perform work as directed by a Tool & Die supervisor (or designee) and outlined by Shop Work Orders (SWO’s)
Read blueprints and understand work order instructions
Gather necessary materials and tools to independently fabricate workpieces
Measure workpiece for adherence to quality standards and blueprint compliance
Perform ongoing housekeeping duties to keep work area clean
Will share responsibilities with other machinists when the need arises. Demonstrate minimum capabilities within the first 90 days
Perform machine adjustments, tool changes, and preventive maintenance to assure proper operation
This position will require:
Working either a 2nd or 3rd shift
An understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Blue print reading skills
This position may require:
Working on holidays as needed
Short notice shift coverage
Possess a high school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Possess a two (2) year technical degree or diploma in Machine Tool Technology OR minimum five (5) years of Machinist or Toolmaking experience
Experience operating multiple types of equipment (examples: mill, lathe, grinder, EDM wire, EDM sinker)
Experience working with multiple material types from metal (heat treated and non-heat treated) to non-metals
Experience changing over, clean and inspect, servicing, and repairing dies or molds
Location: Columbia, MO
Relocation: Is not authorized
Qualified applicants will be required to take and pass 3M employment testing as a part of the selection process.
Applicants will be required to supply a minimal set of machinist tools (list available upon request).
This posting is for a Machinist / ToolMaker position at 3M Columbia. 3M anticipates that multiple openings for this position will occur over time. Qualified applicants may be considered as Machinist / ToolMaker openings occur at 3M Columbia, and 3M will accept applications for up to 6 months from the posting date of this requisition.
