Here, you go.Job Summary:The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineer will support the molding department in the 3M Plant in Columbia, Mo. The department makes products that support multiple 3M divisions for both Medical and Electronic applications. This person will utilize injection molding and plastics expertise to improve department products and processes. The individual will work with plant, customer, vendor, marketing, and product development teams. The ideal candidate will perform well in a fast-paced cross-functional environment managing multiple projects effectively while working with colleagues in the laboratory, in manufacturing, and in the business groups.For additional information, please visit: 3M Columbia PlantPrimary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Lead various technical tasks associated with molding machines, ancillary equipment, tooling, vision systems and measurement equipment, providing tactical support for day-to-day manufacturing operationsIdentify, initiate, and lead projects to improve: process safety, quality, service, cost, capacity, and productivity through Lean Six Sigma methodologiesWork closely with division personnel to validate new processes with high process capabilityCollaborate with production and maintenance teams to resolve and improve equipment downtime issuesCreate and update standard work, operating procedures, and test methodsRespond to quality issues and audit findings with thorough root cause analysis and highly effective corrective actionsWillingness to be on-callBasic Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institutionMinimum three (3) years of experience in a private, public, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: Manufacturing engineering, process engineering, product engineering, process development, product development, EHS, and/or QualityPreferred Qualifications:3 or more years of injection molding experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated strength in engineering/technical skillsExperience with process validation and documentationHands on approach with demonstrated mechanical aptitudeExcellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage different prioritiesSelf-directed mindset that leads with high energy and works with minimal supervision or guidanceTraining and experience in Lean methodology, statistics, SPC, DOE, and Six SigmaThe ability to perform root cause analysis and apply system thinking in problem solvingAbility to motivate others by training, guiding, coaching, and achieving results through team participation and collaborationAbility to prioritize, multi-task and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgencyPersonal computer proficiencyLocation: Columbia, MissouriTravel: May include up to 10% travelRelocation Benefits: Are authorized for this positionThis position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.About 3MAt 3M, we apply science in collaborative ways to improve lives daily.
