The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Molding Process Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Initiating, identifying, recommending and leading projects in the Medical Molding Department to improve: process safety and health/environmental impact, quality, service, and product cost

  • Being responsible for performing and guiding technical activities resulting from approved, self-initiated, or assigned manufacturing programs which can include new process development, process validation, process improvements, and manufacturing scale-up

  • Providing appropriate and timely documentation of work as required by the business unit and being responsible for helping update operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and leading Medical Change Management Requests

  • Owning the responsibility for existing tools in terms of process improvements, cycle time optimization and support of engineering driven changes.

  • Under the guidance of leadership, working to improve performance of manufacturing systems, e.g. OEE improvement (quality, performance and uptime), maintenance needs, and scrap reduction

Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Currently possess or in the final year of pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Plastics Engineering/ Plastics Engineering Technology or related field

  • Experience in plastics injection molding, molding processes, molding equipment, molding materials, and/or mold tooling

  • Project management experience

  • Ability to perform tonnage calculations, review mold and machine specifications and determine compatibility, injection unit capacity, cooling / flow requirements

  • Understanding of Scientific molding principles and tools

  • Experience with validating injection molding processes using IQ/OQ/PQ

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
