Army Installation Management Command Construction Control Inspector in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

Summary

About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Public Works, Engineering Division, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.

Responsibilities

Responsible for surveillance, monitoring, controlling, and inspection of several construction projects at one time, which may vary in difficulty and complexity.

Work closely with designers to avoid delays in construction with respect to minor changes in construction, deviations from schedules, and resolution of disputes over the acceptability of work.

Check work areas, method of performance, etc., for safe practices.

Review contractor's partial payment estimates for items of work claimed, verifying lump-sum and unit price items for units of accomplishment, and certifies for validity preparatory to payment.

Conduct tests as required to insure the proper functioning of the components of the construction.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Building and ConstructionContracting/ProcurementPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Two year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
