Silgan Molding Floor Person in Grandview, Missouri

Handle movement of finished production and scrap for assigned area, including scanning. Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas and are responsible for the prevention of waste and scrap through movement of material and parts by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.

  • Uses scanners to scan finished production to warehouse. Also scans scrap for area.

  • Maintains area with boxes/totes for production and monitors color buckets/material.

  • Cleans floors and maintains orderliness for assigned area.

  • Cleans machines, conveyors, and oil/water spills.

  • Completely cleans assigned molding machines including peripheral equipment.

  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases or other containers.

  • Must be able to operate forklift (if authorized) in accordance with OSHA regulations.

  • Accurately complete necessary documentation and ensure accuracy of scanning.

  • Perform routine maintenance activities to grinders and separators as needed and check and replace vinyl under machines when necessary.

  • Adhere to daily molding schedule regarding restarts, shut downs and change overs.

  • Relieve associates in assigned area for breaks.

  • Must follow all work rules and policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One to three months related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
