Silgan Molding Improvement Technician in Grandview, Missouri
Identifies ways to promote efficiency, quality and safety on the Molding production floor. Reduces waste and scrap by accessing the effectiveness of parts conveying systems and developing permanent solutions to containment issues. Repairs and modifies equipment through designed PM processes. Assists with identifying, maintaining and participating in 5S projects within the production floor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Visually inspect, repair, test and perform annual PM’s on auxiliary equipment
Maintain cleanliness of work area and auxiliary equipment storage areas
Takes initiative to develop useful projects needing very little supervision.
Works closely with Molding Special Project lead to develop standardization processes on work being completed.
Operate fork lifts as required
Perform simple machine maintenance
Assist with 5S events on the production floor as directed
Operates machine tools such as drill press, band and circular saw, measuring equipment and various hand tools.
Fabricate, design, build, construct and modify auxiliary equipment for injection molding machines.
Submits reports on cost, time and approximate savings on specific projects and lists project material requirements
Must be able to run reports, complete records and operate computer
Perform duties of other jobs as required
Follow all safety regulations and LOTO guidelines to ensure compliance.
Must be able to work mandatory overtime. The regular schedule for this position exceeds 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One-year certificate from college or technical; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a high degree of knowledge about molding machines, their operation, set up, care and maintenance to be able to set up molds and related equipment in order to produce quality parts at production standards.
Must have some knowledge of various plastic materials as well as hydraulic, electrical and mechanical understanding.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
