The Boeing Company F-22 Structures Chief Engineer (Senior Strength Lead Engineer) - Level 5 in Hazelwood, Missouri
The Tactical Modification & Sustainment Engineering (TM&SE) organization is seeking a Structures Chief Engineer to join the F-22 Air Vehicle team. This team is responsible for the design, modification, repair, sustainment, and modernization of the F-22 airframe while working collaboratively with the United States Air Force and industry partners to ensure fleet readiness and continued air dominance. The Structures Chief Engineer position will ensure airframe structural integrity for the wing and aft fuselage structures and provide technical oversight across the Program. The candidate should possess strong structural analysis skills and be proficient with classical solution, as well as, finite element software. In addition, the candidate should be a self-starter, be able to plan and execute tasks within constraints imposed by internal and external customer schedules, possess strong leadership and mentoring skills, and have experience leading teams.
Leads development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system design. Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
Leads development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
Supports in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements.
Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
Works under minimal direction
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Confidential Clearance Post-Start is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
10+ years of experience in structural analysis
5+ years of experience in a military or commercial aircraft environment
Must have at least a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering
3+ years of experience leading engineering teams
Knowledge or experience using NASTRAN and PATRAN finite element modeling software
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience influencing stakeholders across multiple organizations to define and drive common objectives.
Experience with Aircraft Structural Design utilizing metallic and composite materials
Typical Education & Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
