SUMMARY

Prepares month-end journal entries and reconciliations, financial statements, and overhead statements and mid-month projections. Calculates mid-month and month-end railcar/railcar parts production costs and margins. Applies intercompany invoices to work orders. Maintains the general ledger and monitors its activities. Prepares quarterly reports, such as fringe, lease, and rental expenses. Acts as a computer systems administrator.

Duties and Responsibilities

*Prepares month-end journal entries and reconciliations, financial statements, and overhead statements.

*Knowledge of GAAP financial and accounting principles and internal control procedures.

*Partners with Operations to understand operational activities for proactive and continuous improvement decision-making.

*Support of audits with both internal and external auditing groups.

*Maintains the general ledger and monitors its activities.

*Prepares and report on Key Measurables to local and Corporate Management.

*Prepares mid-month financial projections for review by plant managers to provide early indications of profitability and cost distribution.

*Calculates mid-month and month-end railcar/railcar parts production costs and margins to provide early indications of car /parts costs.

*Applies intercompany invoices to railcar/railcar parts production work orders.

*Maintains the general ledger and monitors its activities.

*Prepares quarterly reports, such as fringe, lease, and rental expense.

*Acts ad computer system administrator.

*Performs other duties as directed by the Corporate Assistant Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

*Experience in preparing journal entries and monthly reconciliations.

*Prefer an individual who has knowledge of computer systems administration experience.

Education and Experience

*Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or the equivalent

*At least five years of accounting experience, including two years of supervisory experience
