* The opportunity: *

The Electric Automation Specialist performs Maintenance functions by maintaining, repairing, or rebuilding equipment within the plant. Follow general safety and compliance with all workplace rules, policies and procedures, i.e. SQF, safety, etc.

* How you will impact WestRock: *

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining machine control device programs for automation and motion control throughout the plant with an emphasis on safety, optimization, and efficiency. Perform electronic component and device repairs when a replacement is not readily availability or, if refurbishing is the optimal choice. Interact with technical authorities and specialist in other departments and areas to ensure alignment and standards are followed.

Work with multiple types of DCS, PLC, RTU, SCADA systems and platforms and communication networks. Work with multiple types of soldering equipment to perform repairs and or replacements on Thru-hole, SMD, and BGA technology. Subject Matter Expert for process control equipment, instrumentation, and electrical design. Project manager for automation and control upgrades/modifications in the plant. Make recommendations to engineering, production, maintenance, safety, and procurement departments for automation equipment, devices and specifications, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment that maintains production, safety, quality, output, and reduces downtime on production lines in accordance with codes, regulations, and specifications. Inspect, identify, and repair complex equipment, troubleshooting, hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

* What you need to succeed: *

The ideal candidate for this job should have two years minimum electronics repair experience (preferably board repair), two years minimum PLC/HMI programming experience (preferably Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley), and two years minimum Motion Control programming. This candidate must have electrical skills, knowledge, & safety training in voltages of 5 – 480 VAC & VDC. Electrical skills include uses of multi-meters, megohmmeters, and oscilloscopes. Advanced understanding and recognition of electrical parts including relays, contactors, starters, resistors, SCRs, PLCs, fuses, breakers, and solenoids. Must be able to work effectively with all areas of the plant and have a thorough understanding of our entire manufacturing process.
