HNTB Engineer III - Electrical/Lighting in Kansas City, Missouri

What We're Looking For

We are looking for the right candidate to join our Electrical Section in Kansas City as an Engineer III. This role provides exciting opportunities to design electrical systems for a variety of clients on highway, bridge, transit and airport projects.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Electrical Engineering for Civil Transportation projects.

  • Work independently to complete electrical designs with minimal direction.

  • Design low voltage power distribution systems, street lighting, traffic signals, area lighting, pedestrian lighting, aesthetic lighting and other electrical systems.

  • Design power distribution and control systems for Movable Bridges.

  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

  • Prepare electrical engineering designs that are responsive to project needs.

  • Conduct design and constructability reviews of plans.

  • Coordinate with contractor, construction engineers, other consulting engineers, and utility personnel.

  • Conduct reviews and make recommendations of approval of potential construction change orders, shop drawings and change orders.

Electrical Engineer III

  • Completes electrical designs with minimal direction

  • Responsible for preparation and completion of electrical engineering designs that are responsive to project needs

  • Coordinates preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas

  • Helps supervise, schedule and check work of project team members

  • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

  • Responsible for productivity of subordinates and on time, on budget projects

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering

  • PE

  • Experience with Roadway and Highway Lighting

  • Experience with AGI32 Lighting Software

  • Experience with completing Plans, Specifications and Estimate construction packages for Municipal and DOT clients.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for completion of discipline engineering project elements such as reports, designs, specifications and plans.

  • Responsible for coordination and productivity of subordinates. Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

  • Works closely with other disciplines and multi-discipline projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 5 years relevant experience
