Position Summary

The General Manager is the most senior site based person responsible for directing the strategy of the site organization to ensure the attainment of revenue and profit goals and is responsible for the achievement of current and long-range objectives. The General Manager has the overall responsibility for site operations as well as client satisfaction.

The General Manager will oversee management of all areas of operations to produce products and direct activities so that approved products are manufactured on-schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives. This position is responsible for effectively managing employee relations including all areas of performance management, rewards and recognition, and engagement planning for their employees. The site personnel range from high school diploma degrees to PhD level scientists. This position influences the leadership behaviors at all levels at the site to have the right talent and engaged workforce needed to carry out site objectives.

The Role

  • Responsible for creating and delivering the growth strategy for the business with full P&L accountability.

  • Responsible for general management of business unit and provides guidance to directors and managers and other leadership colleagues as well as motivation to all staff within the unit.

  • Oversees multiple departments including administration, finance, quality, formulation and analytical development, process development, and facilities and engineering.

  • Operate a client responsive organization and be the point elevation person for clients when required.

  • Assure that all departments operate in an efficient and economical manner within planned budget limitations.

  • Assure that only product of the highest achievable quality and specifications are manufactured.

  • Direct the planning and coordination of a capital plan including facility expansion and equipment modifications to support future business growth and compliance.

  • Ensures effective coordination with other Catalent businesses and functions to deliver BU strategy and Catalent corporate goals.

  • Leads the budget process for the Kansas City OSD site.

  • Provide on-site leadership in all areas of site performance.

The Candidate

  • The GM must sit on-site at the Kansas City, MO location (relocation support available)

  • B.S/B.A. in Biological Science, Engineering or related field with at least 15 years Pharma/Bio industry operations/quality experience is required

  • Advanced degrees (MS or Ph.D.) Science discipline, Engineering, or related field a plus

  • Pharma/Bio industry operations/quality experience is required with CMO / CDMO a plus

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in higher level management with prior experience as a GM / General Manager required

  • Proven leadership and people management skills, including the ability to recruit and retain a highly-motivated team and nurture and mentor talent.

  • 10 years in Manufacturing or Quality of novel prescription oral solid dosage forms

  • Experience with clinical development CMC and/or commercial manufacturing of novel prescription oral solid dosage forms

  • Supply chain key processes understanding is required.

  • Excellent demonstrated technical skills to understand manufacturing processes and analytical activities from stage 2a through commercialization of solid oral dosage forms.

  • A good working knowledge of cGMP’s, experience with ex-US regulatory requirements, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

The Site

Catalent’s OSD site in Kansas City, MO offers a flexible manufacturing scale to support our client’s growth for clinical and commercial solid oral dosage units. Catalent OSD Kansas City focus is on small-mid-size clients with novel prescription compounds for oncology, rare disease, and unmet disease states. The site supports analytical testing, solid oral dosage form development, clinical manufacturing and commercial manufacturing. The site has been globally inspected by most regulatory agencies. The site routinely brings new prescription products to the commercial market and has over 2% of the NDA’s approved by the FDA over the last 6 years come from the site.
