Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity in our Kansas City Office for a Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer. Applicant must have a bachelor's in structural engineering from an accredited program. A master’s in structural engineering is preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; along with strong analytical and problem solving skills. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Applicant must be a licensed PE.
Applicant must be capable of integrating personal communication and technical skills and applying them to challenging and diverse structural/bridge projects. The candidate will work as a major contributor to our bridge section by providing technical design leadership, quality control and mentorship of less experienced staff. Typical projects include bridge condition evaluation, concept reports, design and construction phase services. The applicant must have experience delivering successful bridge projects to both local and DOT specifications. Applicant must be willing to collaborate with multi-disciplined teams and be able to effectively work across multiple offices and with multiple Global Practices. Applicant will be responsible for preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, studies and shall be able to take projects from inception to completion with minimal oversight. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
Minimum of 7 years of related design experience. Must have demonstrated a high level of knowledge in design, calculations and design systems. Strong analytical, problem solving, plan production and project management skills. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microstation, REVIT, RISA and various bridge design software packages is desired. Some field experience is desirable. PE required.
