Scope of the Position:
**This position will report to Corporate but be based in Moberly MO; Ottumwa, IA; or Council Bluffs, IA.
Responsibilities:
Regularly visit Swift Prepared Food locations across the United States, including Distribution Centers, to work with our teams to prepare, train, and conduct process improvement initiatives and kaizen events utilizing lean and continuous improvement tools as part of Swift Prepared Foods Management Method
Develop and manage process improvements for achieving measurable efficiency, cost reduction, or performance improvement gains
Lead a team of Industrial Engineers, Operational Excellence professionals, helping them with the implementation and execution of the operational excellence tools and processes at their sites
Primary contact for the sites to facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and to develop and support plant teams
Key member of the Operational Excellence management team with responsibilities for developing and improving material, auditing plant locations, and other support as necessary across all business units
Co-own the Management Pillar implementation by teaching all of its tools, training personnel, serving as support, and continuously improving the material to support company priorities
Own the Focus Improvement Pillar implementation by teaching all of its tools, training Industrial Engineers and personnel, serving as support, and continuously improving the material to support company priorities
Participate in executive update and quarterly corporate meetings as required
Track and communicate plant championship KPI’s and ensure all plants are trained and following the process correctly
In conjunction with other members of the Operational Excellence management team, lead four quarterly meetings with the operational excellence team of each plant by planning the agenda, developing the content to be presented and communicated, and facilitating the meetings
Work closely with the maintenance teams at corporate and the plants to drive flawless implementation of the Maintenance Pillar and improvements in availability and performance
Act on an ad-hoc basis to be part of any other project or initiative as part of the Swift Prepared Foods’ Strategy
Available to travel up to 70% of the time
Qualifications:
Education:
- Engineering degree
Experience:
5 - 8 years manufacturing industry experience
Prepared food experience preferred
Special Skills:
Good oral and written communication skills
Strong Excel user
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Able to build good internal relationships
Resilient & flexible
Teaching and coaching skills
Hands-on & detail-oriented
Statistical skills (basic level)
6 Sigma green/black belt certification is a plus
