Aerotek Chop Line Operator in Saint Charles, Missouri
Candidates will be preparing and monitoring the chop line, which cuts long strands of carbon fiber into smaller pieces.
The chop line has a rack of 76 spools which feed carbon fiber into the chopper. Candidates will be responsible for keeping the rack supplied with spools. This is done by tying spools together so that the active spool transitions seamlessly to the backup spool.
In addition to keeping the spools loaded, candidates will have to specify the type of cut by entering the function on an HMI screen (Graphic User Interface).
Contractors will also have to monitor the eyelets and remove any carbon fiber buildup. Other areas of the line must also be monitored for buildup throughout the process.
Contractors are also responsible for collecting bags of finished product and tying them closed.
As contractors progress, they will be taught how to build backup chopper heads for the chop line.
