Engineer- (Process)Job DescriptionJob Posting IntroductionNestle Purina has an outstanding opportunity for an Engineer in the Research and Development (RandD) Department located in St. Louis, Mo. The position is a combination of many skills including Technical Leader, Project Manager, and Scientist. The successful candidate will lead global food manufacturing RandD projects throughout all phases - ideation, experimental design, testing, data analysis, scale-up and industrialization. The core function of this position will be to develop new technologies, improve production processes, assist with product development and support global manufacturing.JOB SUMMARY:Plan, organize and perform a broad range of RandD projects and manufacturing support activity utilizing a high level of advanced methodologies and specialized knowledge to create differentiating technology while using professional judgment with minimal supervision.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Plan, organize and perform the necessary trials and experiments as required to deliver the products and processes that meet the requirements of the client companies and key stakeholders2. Provide engineering input and assistance within RandD and externally (e.g., with Marketing, Manufacturing, Divisional Engineering, Technical Applications, other RandD centers, vendors, etc.) as required on a wide variety of projects3. Function as a project team leader or project team member as assigned. Required activities include, but are not limited to:Providing effective project leadership for the projects assigned. Includes leading a cross functional team as the project leaderDeliver project results in a timely mannerFulfilling all requirements of the RandD project management systems and Product Development Process regarding "absolute" deliverables for each phaseComplete all required documentation and project reporting in a timely manner culminating in the RandD Report, RandD Note, or Engineering Design Dossier (EDD)4. Participate and contribute as a member of a cross-functional team. Actively drive product and process conceptualization, development and scale-up. Interface on a project implementation team by assisting with hand-off from development to startup and providing operational training as required.5. Perform any needed process development and optimization to create and improve pet food operations6. Perform any needed process development to create unique pet food products7. Participate and contribute as a member of cross-functional teams8. Interface on a project implementation team by assisting with the technology hand-off from development through factory startup9. Adherence to Company policy on protection of patent rights and intellectual property10. Ensure all appropriate documents and project records are filed in the RandD central project records repository11. Effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely written technical documentation12. Conduct all activity in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), hygienic best practices and all required Company policies and procedures13. Travel as necessary14.
