WSP is currently initiating a search for an enthusiastic, self-starting Sr. Mechanical Engineer in the Central Region and reporting to our St. Louis office. Consideration will be given to candidates with appropriate qualifications who desire to work from a WSP office in the Central Region other than St. Louis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing and execution of mechanical engineering and design for projects of moderate to high level of complexity, that may include any of the following functions:

  • Conduct condition assessments of building mechanical systems.

  • Produce design criteria, calculations, and construction documents for mechanical building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and limited process piping, as the lead designer or as Engineer of Record.

  • Develop costs estimates for mechanical building systems.

  • Provide technical support during construction activities.

  • Supervise project work of mechanical engineers, technicians and CAD designers, and coordinate with collaborating disciplines.

  • Support business development activity with development of proposal content and client meetings.

  • Support design of, transit, aviation, and industrial facilities, as well as other transportation and water infrastructure. The firm is a recognized leader in transportation design, but is expanding into other markets. Project assignments may include, transit centers, transit maintenance and operation facilities, traffic management centers, airport air and landside facilities, parking structures, pump stations, or bridge and tunnel infrastructure.

  • Provide technical leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians, and contribute to the success of a collaborative team.

  • Assist with identification of new project opportunities, and coordination with local offices throughout the Central Region and the US.

  • This is an excellent technical leadership position for a proficient engineer to influence production of engineering design for a national client base in an internationally recognized global firm in a field designated for expansion, and to assume leadership of projects and staff.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license required with eligibility for reciprocity in other States.

  • 10 years of experience in engineering and design of building mechanical systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing and fire suppression.

  • Proficiency with mechanical building services design and HVAC design software.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with transit, rail, or aviation facilities and infrastructure.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, or Microstation.

  • Proficiency in Revit MEP.

  • LEED Accreditation

  • NCEES registration
