Position Title

Information Assurance Engineer

Position Summary

The Information Assurance Engineer provides professional level facility and IT security and risk management services by performing risk identification, assessment, and remediation as well as regulatory and internal compliance monitoring using standards and processes and required to protect personnel, facilities, infrastructure, information, and business operations. This individual will ensure security requirements are met for LMI’s 15+ domestic and international locations to protect employee’s safety and security, to protect all company and customer property and information in LMI’s care, and to support LMI’s obligations for security under defense and export regulations.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, implement, and maintain security program documentation.

  • Define security requirements and review systems to determine if they have been designed to comply with established security standards and develop new standards as necessary.

  • Ensure and support ongoing compliance with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (“DFARS”) requirements specific to NIST SP 800-171.

  • Develop and maintain System Security Plan (SSP) and contingency plans.

  • Develop and maintain Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M)

  • Develop and maintain facility layout maps of all sites, identifying areas of Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”).

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Technology Control Plans (“TCP”) for foreign national employees and visitors.

  • Implement and administer security systems at all LMI facilities.

  • Support compliance with the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (“DFARS”), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”), and Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) across all LMI facilities, including by developing, implementing, and maintaining policies.

  • Conduct audits of site security, identify improvement opportunities, provide feedback to facility and corporate leadership on areas of opportunity and develop mitigation plans to improve site security based on audit and assist with execution.

  • Providing training or training resources when facility does not have resources to provide training independently on security topics.

  • Conducting research on potential solutions and sharing best practices of other LMI facilities and other companies in security areas.

  • Participation in Kaizen and other security events both at the local and corporate levels to provide subject matter expert input on security topics.

  • Work with outside resources such as insurance carriers, vendors and government agencies to improve security issues or address compliance issues.

  • Providing resources and knowledge of emerging security issues so LMI can be proactive in addressing those issues.

  • Work with supervisor to develop standard security procedures for compliance on security issues and processes.

  • Participate in security investigations to help local and/or corporate leadership reach root cause and help develop corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Compile, analyze and report out monthly security data.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as requested.

Required Skills/Competencies

  • Good written skills to provide reports, ability to speak in front of people such as a classroom or plant meeting setting

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, specifically Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Ability to work with various personality types and in a team environment setting across multiple sites and at the corporate level.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization in a respectful and productive manner.

  • Ability to provide training to employees on security issues in an informative and engaging manner.

  • Must know or quickly learn the principles, methods, and techniques of security concerned with facilities and systems for controlling access and surveillance.

  • Possess good working knowledge of security regulations for export compliance and working with the Department of Defense, including, but not limited to DFARS, ITAR, and EAR.

  • Ability to influence and drive change to achieve job results.

  • General understanding of IT operations, infrastructure, and security best practices.

Education Required

Requires four-year degree in Information Technology, Security, or related field.

Experience Required

5 years experience in information technology, security, law enforcement, military, or security compliance required. At least 1 year of experience in dealing with security systems and processes required. Familiarity with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) required. Familiarity with NIST security frameworks including NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53 required. Experience in analyzing system security posture and performing risk assessments required. Familiarity with IT Security controls required. Experience in maintaining compliance documentation, conducting IT audits and creating remediation plans, and process design and improvement required.

Physical/Work Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods, working at a desk and/or attending meetings. U

  • Use various computer and office equipment as well as be able to move throughout the office and manufacturing area in order to talk/hear or otherwise communicate with employees, management, customers, vendors, and others.

  • Noise level in the work environment ranges from quite to loud.

  • Employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the plant floor.
