About The Opportunity

The Chief Manufacturing Engineer will serve as the technical project leader and the primary liaison between the customer and GKN under the general leadership of the program manager and functional manager.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Program Engineering Responsibilities

  • Severs as the Technical Authority for the program to the customer for

  • Nonconformance evaluations and support

  • Determine approvals needed and support training for systems access and use of required database/system requirements

  • Design Improvement solutions

  • Process improvements and approvals

  • Review of costs on program and evaluation of engineered solutions for cost reductions

  • Track progress to improvement plans

  • Work with customers for design changes resulting in producibility / cost reductions

  • Formulation of plans and actions to eliminate nonconformance’s and defects

  • Work with VS Engineering team to generate ideas and implementation plans to eliminate nonconformance’s on product.

  • Track progress for results of plans

  • Project Development and management

  • Development of Project planning for technical solutions for process improvements, automation, quality improvements and cycle time reduction of manufactured products.

  • Manage project timelines, schedule and required resources to execute project completion.

  • Develop Cost analysis for projects to show return on investment and payback.

  • Develop detailed project plans to account for all capital assets, manpower requirements and process development/documentation required to execute through completion

  • Outsourcing of program product

  • Develop statement of work for required outsourced activities of technical nature and work across the organization to obtain necessary resources

  • Final Review of all estimates on new business and significant changes on existing product.

  • Responsible for review and approval of any outsourcing activities of existing products.

  • Co Leader in all change board reviews and activities.

  • Involvement in startup projects and new business launch for resource requirements for salary and direct head count. Development of time phased resource requirements for staffing of technical and direct head count needs.

  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance.

  • Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

About you

Required Experience

  • BS Engineering or similar technical field

  • 10 years of manufacturing experience

  • 5 years of experience in project management within a manufacturing environment

  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements

Additional Desired Experience

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is strongly preferred

  • Metallic part fabrication or assembly fabrication is strongly preferred

  • Excellent customer relations skills including oral and written communications, presentations, and relationship development.

  • Experience with aerospace

  • GKN Experience

Candidates must be U.S. Persons with the ability to pass a government background investigation for a DoD Security Clearance at the secret level. Candidates will also be subject to an employment background investigation to include but not limited to: criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness. The clearance must be maintained during the time of employment.
