Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science. This position is for the Danforth Campus in the School of Engineering. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: The Lab Technician provides support for the PI by maintaining the mouse colony, performing experiments, maintaining lab supplies and equipment, and providing documentation of daily lab activities. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Perform experiments under supervision of the PI aimed at understanding how wall structure affects transport in aneurysmal disease. 2. Maintain mouse colony. 3. Coordinate ordering and stocking of lab supplies and reagents. 4. Ensure lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures. 5. Assist PI in training undergraduate and graduate students on experimental techniques. 6. Assure compliance with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. 7. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in biology, engineering, or a related field and one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling five years in a related field. * Experience with biochemical techniques. * Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications * Prior research experience in biology or biomedical engineering research lab, biochemical techniques, and mouse handling. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators. * Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $14.07 - $18.99 per hour.
