The Six Sigma DMAIC Black Belt (BB) is a “High Caliber” data driven Problem Solver specializing in solving complex issues. The BB will lead major breakthrough initiatives to successful completion and with that captures significant growth opportunities in the organization. Additionally the BB plays a key role in developing problem solving capability by training & coaching Six Sigma DMAIC Green Belts (GB) and problem solvers using the 8 Step A3 approach and DMAIC where appropriate. The BB is a change agent and role model for leading change and Lean transformation.

Driving the disciplined and rigorous execution of complex data driven problem solving (Black Belt projects as well as Kaizen Events) as part of the LEM deployment across their assigned area of responsibility
Coaching their assigned area’s Leadership team in their deployment of the Lean Excellence Model especially by supporting the prioritisation of complex issues requiring resolution and assigning methods of approach as part of the Kaizen Event Planning Process
Displaying exemplary Lean Leadership behaviour
Training & coaching Green Belts to certification completion.
The delegated owner (from the Site Lean Deployment Leader) of the Six Sigma DMAIC programme for the site including both capability building and sustainment as well as rigorous DMAIC application and execution.
Delivering significant improvement in People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost (PSQDCC) targets, meeting their assigned area’s customer and stakeholder commitments, driven by execution of complex data driven problem solving
Developing DMAIC Expertise across their assigned area, ensuring that they become self-sufficient in problem solving, working with the SLDL and fellow LDLs and GBs/BBs to ensure that all staff are fully certified in problem solving at the appropriate level for their role
Complying with all legal and regulatory requirements and ensuring that staff are aware of the policies and their individual responsibilities and accountabilities:

3 years of experience in Lean/Continuous Improvement role in a manufacturing/industrial environment
A Six Sigma DMAIC BB Certification from a reputable certifying body or benchmark company. Otherwise, on the job certification is necessary to achieve within 6 months.
Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements
BS degree, or equivalent, in an Engineering or Science discipline
An effective communicator
An excellent team builder with project management skills, who is able to navigate through complex project stakeholder situations
Previous experience in Lean Transformation
An understanding of Lean Thinking and Lean Leadership, and has the ability to lead, coach and mentor team members
Experience using Six Sigma tools and techniques to assign team tasks and uses the stages of Six Sigma or DMAIC to complete process improvment projects.
