The Special Repairman will be based out of Cahokia, IL and is primarily responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of Company pipeline assets located in the East St. Louis terminal. The Special Repairman will calibrate and inspect measurement equipment, conduct routine pipeline maintenance, eliminate and report product leaks, seeps, and spills, as well as assist with construction, maintenance and mechanical integrity projects at the terminal. The position will maintain qualifications and record documentation in accordance with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Performing and providing technical support for installations, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical and rotating equipment.

  • Performing troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, calibrations and replacement of equipment as necessary.

  • Maintaining current and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.

  • Pressure testing relief valves

  • Bending and installing tubing

  • Performing basic carpentry, plumbing, auxiliary work as needed

  • Assisting supervisors in changing technology and budget requirements.

  • Performing troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, calibrations and replacement of equipment as necessary.

  • Performing equipment monitoring and maintenance documentation.

  • Performing planned maintenance checks and calibration and timely submits appropriate reports.

  • Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative maintenance.

  • Assisting with maintaining technical and administrative records, including prints and project reports.

  • Responding to emergencies and participate in Emergency Response Training.

  • Driving teamwork throughout the area of responsibility.

  • Supervising and directing contract crews as needed.

  • Participating in Safety Action Plans.

  • Completing and maintaining required safety/regulatory training.

  • Pursuing cost reduction opportunities.

  • Assisting in pump tear down/rebuild inspections and new pump installations.

  • Complying with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations, and safety policies and procedures.

Position Requirements


  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must obtain Weight and Measurement State certification within the 1st year of employment

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license

  • Willingness and ability to perform and comply with following, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • To climb up to 100 feet using both inclined and vertical steps/ladders

  • To bend, kneel, knee stand and squat up to 30 minutes at a time

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or equivalent

  • 4 or more years of relevant Industry experience (Midstream, Pipelines or Terminals) or Military experience

  • 4 or more years of experience working with any of the following:

  • Mechanical and rotating equipment

  • Hydraulics

  • Intermediate level or proficiency using MS Office and SAP


Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 21,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from a refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
