Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Services is looking for a UX Design Lead to add to the GBS Strategic Design Team. We’re a global team of designers who are part of the Strategy, Offerings & Platforms group that serves all of IBM Services. Our mission is to leverage research-driven, user-centered practices to impact how IBM Services transforms our clients’ businesses. We’re not the team that just makes things pretty. We’re the team that tackles some of IBM’s largest, most complex problems and helps align stakeholders around high-impact solutions. You’ll collaborate on a variety of high-priority projects within IBM Services to design experiences for our internal teams and our clients, functioning as a key member of a multi-disciplinary squad focused on using design thinking and service design practices to create and iterate on these pivotal experiences.
Ensure there is consistency and orchestration in the design strategy as you apply design to experiences, products and services.
Produce mood boards, storyboards, design briefs, user flows, prototypes, and other artifacts required to develop and evolve user experience designs.
Work with design team to lobby for and plan evaluation of prototypes to ensure a delightful user experience.
Defend design choices using previous user research, heuristics and usability standards.
Create world-class user experiences that support and reinforce IBM vision, brand and business objectives across all platforms.
Provide support during discussions with clients and help assess design needs for projects.
Understand the larger strategic goal and understanding how to work within that constraint.
Develop mid-fidelity and hi-fidelity mockups when necessary.
Rapidly build and iterate prototypes.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Skills Required :
Working understanding of service design and prior experience driving user-centric objectives in both research and business strategy contexts.
Natural curiosity and comfort with ambiguity accompanied by an extreme bias towards making and a willingness to learn.
Must be able to frame user opportunities within the context of business needs and effectively communicate with & enroll extended team to address those opportunities.
Must be able to deliver delightful, thoughtful design solutions that are relevant to our users and our business objectives.
Must have the ability to successfully negotiate and evolve the design with stakeholders and the working team, to ensure the integrity of the design is upheld in the delivered product or service.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in UX Patterns, web standards, mobile design patterns.
Knowledge of accessible designs.
Ability to work with brand and design guidelines.
Outstanding written, verbal and storytelling skills, including techniques to persuade, negotiate and articulate alternative approaches.
7+ years of UX Design Experience
Knowledge of design tools including Adobe Creative Suite
Portfolio that displays a solid understanding of design principles and interface design
Strong oral and written communication skills
