KEY OUTCOMES1)Project management of assigned tools, including identifying and communicating design issues with work center supervisor, engineering, and allocating resources to meet scheduled deadlines.2)Manual machining of tool components according to specifications and within tolerance.3)Fitting of tool components into final build up.4)Completing and verifying the completion of all documentation to ensure tool correctness before shipment.5)Check and ensure that tool will function correctly and produce acceptable parts prior to shipment.iiESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS1)High school diploma or equivalent.2)Graduate of an advanced machine tool technology program or equivalent apprenticeship.i3)At least five (5) years experience in mold making trade.4)Ability to read blueprints and perform shop math calculations.5)Good oral and written communication skills.6)Physical ability to move, lift and/or push up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.7)Physical ability to walk/stand on concrete for the duration of the work shift, in increments of up to six (6) hours.8)Ability to effectively and safely use a wide variety of hand measuring tools, wrenches, files, and various small tools associated with tool and die machine shops.9)Basic computer proficiency, including data entry skills and familiarity with various software programs.10)Adequate eyesight with or without corrective lenses (safety glasses are required) to perform required work with necessary attention to detail.11)Organization skills sufficient to manage several projects at any given time.iiORGANIZATIONThis position reports to the shop management position (i.e., Lead, Foremen, Supervisor, or Manager) for the assigned work center per the company's Organizational Chart.ii There are no positions reporting to the Toolmaker, however the Toolmaker is expected to give instruction to Tool Room Machinists, Tool Mechanics, Utility persons, and Apprentices on specific projects.i Regular interaction and communication with CNC Machinist, shop management, and other personnel is required.iiNATURE OF POSITIONThe Toolmaker works in a manufacturing environment. This position involves extensive problem solving and decision making skills.i The buildup/repair departments see deadline pressure on a daily basis.i Accuracy and attention to detail are critical to this position.i The position involves frequent lifting, and standing through most of the shift.i Regular attendance is required and considerable overtime is to be expected.iiiiESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION1)Project management for assigned tools through completion and delivery.2)Identifying and communicating design issues to facilitate continuous product improvement.3)Accurate and efficient machining to create components according to specification.4)Accurate and efficient build up of tooling, according to print design specifications and under the direction of the department supervisor/Supervisor.5)Oversees and contributes to the development of apprentices/utilities through daily instruction.6)Completely takes apart molds weighing up to 30,000 lbs. with the assistance of overhead cranes.7)Calculates die stack-up and grinding the components within i.0005" tolerance.8)Able to build up different types of ejection systems on mold base.9)Accurately performs manual machine work on surface grinders, Bridgeport knee mills, and related manual machines.10)Accurately and efficiently performs bench fitting of inserts, and other related components.11)Accurately and efficiently timing out locks, slide cores, and cylinders.12)Maintains a safe and clean work area, as well as preserves safe machine tool practices.13)Consistently produces accurate and neat documentation of work in accordance to GH Tool standards including the QMS.14)Communicates with other departments and shifts to ensure efficiency and quality of parts being made.15)Consistently completes jobs in a timely manner while maintaining a high quality standard.16)Understands and obeys company safety rules.17)Work
